Is there not a Hospital Liaison Committee in your area? Where I live it is a group of brothers usually Elders who do indeed have a list of physicians and surgeons who are willing to use bloodless techniques. Often a large teaching hospital will have a bloodless/ sparing program. The program is often ran by a JW nurse or collaborates care within the patients beliefs and appropriate physicians. If you Pm me I tell you about the one in my city, but it is probably about 12 hours away from you. Hope things turn around for your wife. NMKA

More Misc Ramblings About Gilead
by AllTimeJeff inhonestly, i can't remember if i told some of this already, so if i repeat myself, please allow me this.
i am practicing for old age..... it is now 6 years since i got the "long form" application for gilead, with over 120 questions to answer.
5 years since i got my notice that we were selected to attend the 119th class of gilead from april-september 2005.. prior to this, i really wanted to be a co. i won't belabor the point about my ex jw wife wanting to go overseas, but suffice to say, her goal won out over my goal.

Good lord these glimpses of the inside are interesting ! I never had the opportunity to go to Bethel or Patterson, even though I was raised in the big JW family and don't live terribly far. Then when I had a family all the pressure was on "oh you are depriving the children, how will they set it as a goal if you don't take them"? When it came right down to we could not bear to trot around in dress clothes one minute longer than we had to in a normal week, I couldn't see spending vacation time and money on that.
I can't even imagine what it was like for you, that would all been enough to give me PTSD, never mind the beating in Cameroon. All these experiences are what brought up your rock bottom and changed your threshold for what you could swallow. We would have left a lot sooner if I could have seen all of this first hand as you did. BTW, I don't think even a lurker would take you as another disgruntled ex JW. Keep it coming, you never know who it is helping or just reminding why they left. Thanks again Jeff. NMKA

Soledad, we recently had an experience like yours. We had a death in the immediate family so we were in their home frequently that week. When loving brother shepherd elder came to review arrangements, he and his lovely wife wouldn't even greet my family (faded not DF). Well, there little plan backfired on them. I didn't go running back and boy did it speak volumes to non JW family that witnessed their behavior. But yes, they are rude, how they think that is going to want you to return is a mystery to me. It actually reassures me when the act this way. Hope your Mom is better soon! NMKA

Nine year old baptized
by EmptyInside inthis weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

In our circuit it almost became a social thing. So you had this elite group of 11 year olds that were baptised and wouldn't socialize much with kids that were not baptised. I noticed with this trend marriages were getting younger and younger. One young girl was getting married at barely 16, but the rationale was that she had been baptised for 6 years.

Thank you Jeff, for sharing and for the reminder to tell family that we love them. What a touching story! While it may be more convenient for us adult lifers to go on Sunday and to the memorial it's why we have to make a stand and get our kids out of this judgemental horrible organization. NMKA

Noni, good for you. This probably will be the toughest part for you, once you have the ball rolling you will notice nothing is as hard as just getting started. Keep going! Let us know how your college classes go. NMKA

For me it was a slow mental exit that spanned over many years, finally went to my last meeting 5/2008. It was not until July of that year that I found this site and bought CoC. They just confirmed everything I observed over a life time. NMKA
